Dear Family,

David has been with us this past week. He was staying with a Buddy, but he joined the Air Force on Monday. He will return to San Diego Tuesday, where he will be assigned to an electronics school. If he graduates from this, he will then go to Treasure Island for further Sub training.

He is as thin as a rail and of course Mother is trying to put a few pounds on him before he leaves. Speaking of pounds! I don’t think that pool is reducing her a bit. She is too hungry when she gets out of it. It does seem to be helping her back though.

Rina, your letter is ransoming this decker! Thanks for sending our mail along. We were indeed sorry to hear that Lane is having ear trouble again. It is just that darn Hawaiian weather. I will be very glad when you are back on the Mainland- I mean Arizona! We enjoyed Frank’s letter very much also. So he cooked the “Guiso”. I see where I have lost my job when we are near you. I am glad it turned out O.K. I had a talk with Brown in General Priesthood this morning. He sends his regards. You evidently put a fire under that lawyer. He sounded just a little unhappy with you in his letter. Anyway he is moving and even though we told him that we would accept the last offer of Gould, he is trying to get more. The thing that makes us happy is that the Medical expenses will be paid and we won’t have this thing hanging over our heads.

So Scot is selling all my old magazines? Tell him that I will expect 10% and not to forget to pay tithing. How is Julie making out with the broken down toys?

We just came back from church and miss the home evenings with our grand children. Please don’t get too busy to have them. I can’t get over Rinda’s pledging allegiance to the flag. She handled those big words in a cavalier manner.

We wanted to go fishing next month and then go to see the “Bucking Bronco” McKays in July. Then to Lake Tahoe, Oregon and back to San Francisco, but we will have to wait right her until this insurance settlement is finished. The lawyer is sending us papers to sign and we can’t go away. We will follow this itinerary though if it doesn’t get too cold before we get away.

Betty called as soon as she got my last decker. The girls had something for Grandma on Mother’s day and did not know where to send it. Everything seems to be fine at the Rice home, except that Queenie got stung on the nose by a bumblebee.

Marta, don’t let your new job as Primary President keep you so busy you don’t have time to write. Take five once in a while and sit down, (when Rinda is asleep) and write us. Don’t forget to send that Texaco bill along.

Marion, did we get any mail there after we left. My sisters should have written.

Vaya Con Dios,

Dad
